QUALIFICATION AND RESPONSIBILITY OF MEMBERS OF A LOCAL ASSEMBLY

TEXT: ACTS 2: 36 – 39, 40 –47

MEMORY VERSE: John 3: 5 “Jesus answered, verily, verily I say unto you, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

INTRODUCTION

To be a part of the body of Christ, you need to be born again. Though every one can be a member of the local Church, there are set criteria to be met before you can be a part of the kingdom of God. In the natural, there are criteria, rights and responsibility for citizenship, So also in the kingdom of God there are qualifications and responsibility. 

QUALIFICATION FOR HEAVENLY CITIZENSHIP

1. Born again – (John 3: 3, 1Peter 1: 23) (Acts 2: 36 – 39, Mark 1: 15, Luke 13: 3, Romans 10: 8 – 10)
2. Making a strong commitment in your heart to be a member of one local Church (Romans 16: 5)
3. Abide by the doctrine of the local Church (Romans 2:2, 3:16 )

 BELIEVER’S RESPONSIBILTY

1. Being a part of the Church fellowship – worship, prayers, study the word.
2. Evangelising
3. Giving (1Corinthians 16: 1 – 4)
4. Bear one another burden (Romans 15: 1 –3)
5. Honouring the church leadership  (Hebrew 13: 7, 17- 18)
6. Obedient {Jn 15,10}

CONCLUSION

Christ is the Lord of the church that every member is responsible to. Therefore, if you are part of the church, he must be your Lord
