TEXT: Galatians 5:22-25

Memory Verse: Galatians 5: 26. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Comments: A Christian’s character is not mere morals but the possession and the manifestation of the fruit of the spirit, for us to walk in the Spirit; we must possess some vital fruit that will enable us as believers to maintain our spiritual growth.

LOVE

Love as a fruit of the Spirit is very vital in the lives of believers. We cannot quantify the edifying effect of Christendom, if cultivated it glues the members into a strong fellowship, purity and unity. If you love yourself unconditionally then the bible says to love your neighbour as yourself – Matt. 19:19, Luke 10:27

POTENCY OF LOVE

  1. Love saves -John 3:16-18
  2. Love Provides and gives freely – Romans 8:32
  3. Love endures all things – 1 Corinthians 13:7, Matt. 5:4
  4. Love never fail – 1 Corinthians 13:8
  5. Love solidifies relationship – Ephesians 5:25, Titus 2:4, 1sam.18:1-4
  6. It facilitates forgiveness – Gen.18:20-23, 29-30
  7. Love is irresistible – Solomon 8:6

JOY:

Joy is an essential fruit for believers to cultivate. The field of joy is the heart, when your heart is full of joy other parts of the body gets attuned, Joy is contagious! Colossians 3:12-15, 2Peter 1:4-9, 2 Corinthians6:6. Joy is not based on what you have but on who you are in Christ Jesus.

 WAYS TO NURTURE A JOYFUL HEART

  1. Abiding continually in God’s presence – psalm 16:11
  2. Sing praises and worship God – Job 38:7
  3. Following the footsteps of Christ – Hebrew 12:2, Philippians 4:8
  4. Evangelism (evangelising) – Luke 10:17, Acts 8:8
  5. Sowing into the kingdom Psalm 126:5

PEACE:

Peace is a state of Calmness, an inward rest and free of anxiety. God expects us to live peacefully with all men. As believers, we should yield ourselves as instrument of peace amongst brethren and pursue peace with all men. Romans 15:33, Philippians 4:7, Heb 12:14 Thessalonians 5:23, Romans12:18.

CHARACTERISTICS OF PEACEMAKERS.

  1. They walk in goodness and gentleness – Gen. 5:22
  2. They walk in obedience – Ephesians 6:1
  3. They walk in love – Proverbs 10:12, 1 Peter 4:8.
  4. They seek the comfort and peace of others – 1 Corinthians 13:8
  5. They bridle their tongue – John 3:1-7.

CONCLUSION:

Love, Joy, Peace connotes the character of an inward state of a believer. God expects us to nurture and manifest his character.
