TEXT: JOHN 16:7-14

MEMORY VERSE: Act 1:8 ‘But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.’

INTRODUCTION

The primary duty of the Holy Spirit is to convert souls from the kingdom of darkness into the king of light, to sustain and comfort them in Christ as they believed. The Holy Spirit discloses and makes real to us personal presence of Jesus Christ; the early church experiences these after the ascension of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit was sent to this earth for the very purpose of working in partnership with the believers, to quicken and strengthen them for the work of magnifying the Christ (John 15:26-27). The Holy Spirit brings personal boldness and courage into a believer’s lives, so that he can accomplish mighty works in Christ name, for effective witnessing.

DUTIES OF THE Holy SPIRIT

CONCLUSION

The early church was effective because of the dynamic function of the Holy Spirit. After the baptism in the Holy Ghost, there was an explosive manifestation of God’s power: the church harvest of souls (Act 2:28-41); the miracle by the apostles (Act 3:7, 6:8); the wide spread of the gospel (Act 8:4-5) etc. These accounts were made possible by the Holy Spirit and He is still ready to manifest his attributes through us today.
