TEXT: ACT 2: 42 – 47

MEMORY VERSE: HEBREW 10: 25 ‘not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching’.

INTRODUCTION

A true disciple is a born again serving the Lord in a local assembly where he is nurtured in the word of God. Thus he is spiritually, financially and physically committed to that church (a local assembly). It is an erroneous teaching to believe, since we all belong to the universal church, there is no need for a local assembles. A disciple is expected to be submissive to a local assembly’s authority and following the footstep of the shepherd, put to watch over our soul (Hebrew 13: 7, 17)

LESSON: DISCIPLE RESPONSIBILITY TO HIS LOCAL ASSEMBLES

  1. Pray for the church and his pastors (Hebrew 13: 17 18, Ephesians 6: 18 – 19)
  2. Paying his tithe (Malachi 3: 8 – 12, Hebrew 10: 13, 11 Chronichle31: 5, Deuteronomy 14: 22)
  3. Must not criticise his pastor (Number 12: 1 – 4, Numbers 16)
  4. Should be obedient to the word of God (Deuteronomy 28: 1 – 5)
  5. Should be obedient his pastors (Hebrew 13: 7, 17)
  6. Should be involving in evangelising and follow up (act 15: 36)
  7. Should be financially and materially committed to the assemble (Philippians 4: 13 – 17)

CONCLUSION

As disciples, criticism, disobedient to church authorities are not to be found among us. Obedient and supportive attitude should be focused. A financial involvement and evangelising should be held with high esteemed.
